I'm retired now, as of 2007. Before that, I was nine years teaching in secondary schools, then over thirty as a careers adviser in schools and careers centres.I was married as a young man, but came out and now have the most wonderful man in the world as my civil partner. I learned a lot from being straight and a lot from being gay; we never stop learning if we allow it to happen.

For the past 4 years, I have had the pleasure of being the link personal adviser from Calderdale & Kirklees Careers to Galyic. For most of that time I've attended the weekly youth group, but with changes to my work commitments, I am now 'just' a board member. I think all parties, Galyic, myself, C&K Careers and the young people who come to the group, have benefited from what will hopefully continue to be an example of really good collaborative work and support.

I have recently relocated to Todmorden from Northampton, my home town, where I was a founding member of the Northamptonshire Lesbian, Gay & Bisexual Alliance, and its Director of Operations for the last 4 years. During my time in Northampton since coming out, I have served on various LGBT forums & committees, and more recently on the County Strategic Hate Crime Committee, and the CPS Hate Crime Scrutiny Panel.

Despite only being in Tod for a few months, I am becoming actively involved in local LGBT organisations, and as well as the GALYIC Board, I am a member of the West Yorkshire Police Homophobic & Disableist Incident Scrutiny Panel, and the Calderdale LGBT Network.

I am currently singing in the Manchester Lesbian & Gay Chorus, and additionally am looking forward to joining the Todmorden Choral Society.

I am a native Glaswegian but my adoptive town is Todmorden. I have worked in the public and voluntary sector for over five years. I currently work for Bradford Council as a Funding Officer, identifying funding for council projects as well as for voluntary and community groups. I am into all kinds of music and enjoy jogging.
