The level of drug use among LGBT young people in Calderdale has risen from 33% in 1998 to 44% in 2008. In 2008 findings for drug use were:

34% marijuana

22% speed

16% cocaine

14% ecstasy

8% poppers

6% tranquillisers and

4% heroin.

Nationally, 24.1% of young people aged between 16 and 24 years have used one or more illicit drug compared to 40% of the GALYIC sample.
