MEDIA BOX
January-July 2010
Ryburn Valley High School have been successful in a funding bid to Media Box to run an exciting six-month project which starts on Tuesday, 26th January. There are three groups of young people taking part in the project and GALYIC members are one of the groups. We are arranging transport to collect members and take them up to the Media Centre at Ryburn Valley High School for the session which will run from 4-6pm.
The aim of the project is to tackle stereotypes, in particular between old and young people. Groups of older people will also be taking part in the project and will exchange experiences of stereotypes of 'youth' with the younger members. GALYIC are hoping to get some older LGBTs to take part in the project so that they can exchange their experiences of coming out etc with our current members.
Photography, creative writing and pod-casting skills will be taught by experts during the project. It is hoped the end result will be a series of exhibitions which will tour Calderdale.
The project is aimed at young people who are aged 14-18 years.
