Working with Other Agencies
Since it was set up in 1999, GALYIC worked with other agencies in order to respond to the diverse needs of
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people.
Alongside establishing GALYIC with a group of young people, Jan Bridget also helped to set up an Inter Agency
Group, with the purpose of supporting services to be more gay-friendly and meet the needs of
LGB young people.
"Supporting Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Young People" was one of GALYIC's
first publications and this was sent out to
the majority of young people's services.
There was alway some sort of inter agency group and for the last few years this was called the GALYIC
Case Study Group; here face-to-face workers who work with LGBT young people met every other month to develop
support packages for LGBT young people and share concerns.
These meetings regularly included the Psychosexual Health Counsellor,
Supported Lodgings Scheme, Calderdale and Kirklees Careers, the Information Shop for Young People, CAMHS and
Branching Out, the young people's substance misuse service.
