'At last GALYIC (Gay and Lesbian Youth in Calderdale) are getting more referrals from different agencys, especially Calderdale Youth Service,' says Jan Bridget, worker with the group. 'GALYIC is for young people aged 25 and below who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. GALYIC meets every Thursday evening, 7-9 pm in the centre of Halifax and like most other youth groups now have access to pool, table-tennis darts and games. Discussions are also held and a video night is planned in the future.

'When you're first coming out as lesbian or gay it can seem that you're the only one. this is why it's important that members of GALYIC are able to attend other gay events in the region. summertime always brings a range of "Gay Pride" events. Some are a fair distance, like the London Pride, but over the  past years there have been more regional events organised. for the second time, GALYIC will be attending the pink picnic in Huddersfield on 4th August. We'll be meeting in central Halifax  and transport is provided.'
