Befriending Scheme

It can be scary going to a gay youth group for the first time, which is why we have developed the Befriending Scheme.

Several members of the group have attended a Buddying training programme, where they developed skills such as listening, how to be a buddy, how to develop conversations, how to be supportive. These members now provide the Befriending Scheme. This is aimed at supporting new members to settle within the group and develop new friends. The 'buddy' is also there if the new member wants to talk to a peer (as opposed to one of the workers).
